In this section of the website, you will find useful information and tips for planning your trip. Interesting entries include customs formalities, security control, passenger rights and some hint to contact the airport for lost property.
Conditions of carriage for air travellers are meant to be valid all over the world but please consider that standards and restrictions may vary according to airlines and countries. It is highly recommended to check all specific requirements well in advance before travelling.
In order to know how to require special assistance (e.g. for unaccompanied minors, passengers with reduced mobility), to verify terms and conditions of carriage for passengers, pets and luggage, to get accustomed to rules and restrictions in case of pregnant women, unattended children or special cases and to make sure you know all you need about your airline ticket, we strongly recommend that you check all relevant details with your airline and the appropriate Authorities well before the flight.
For your comfort and convenience we recommend that you follow some simple rules:
- arrive at the check-in desk early enough (check-in times vary depending on departure airport and destination);
- show a valid document proving your identity when checking in and boarding;
- inform the airline ahead of time when special assistance is required for persons with reduced mobility, unaccompanied minors or in special cases;
- pack your bags personally and do not leave them unattended.
If you are travelling to non-EU countries, you are strongly advised to seek information on the documents required, any medical prophylaxis to be followed and the country’s safety situation by consulting the Foreign Office’s website “Viaggiare sicuri”, set up in cooperation with the Automobile Club Italia, www.viaggiaresicuri.mae.aci.it. Alternatively, you can call +39 06 491115, operating seven days a week (with voice service at night-time).
Information on the reliability of airlines is available from the European Union’s website (http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/list_it.htm) and from the website of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (www.enac.gov.it) or its toll free number 800898121 (operating in Italy from Monday to Friday from 8.00AM to 8.00PM).
