Press conference at Cagliari Airport for Volotea: this morning Valeria Rebasti – the carrier’s Italian commercial country manager - has announced new direct flights to France. Nantes and Toulouse will be served from June 1st 2017. For the first time ever, Volotea will operate from Cagliari on international as well as on domestic routes adding 2 more destinations to its network in South Sardinia. The Irish low cost carrier has announced today its new flights from Cagliari Airport. The route to Parma will be operated from Dec. 1st 2016, while the first Ryanair flight to London Luton will take off on Jan. 5th 2017. Passenger traffic figures go up for low cost Volotea at Cagliari Airport: data recorded during summer 2016 show a 108% increase over last year’s summer. As many as 67,800 voyagers chose to travel to and from South Sardinia with the Spanish carrier during June, July and August 2016. Volotea has reported a positive trend for both the Italian (+27%, 850,000 passengers) and the European market (+31%, more than 1,507,000 travellers) and plans the further expansion of its network in the near future. Traffic at Cagliari Airport General Aviation Terminal hits new record: aircraft movements rose by 40% in July on the same period a year ago.
